MultiMedia Tutorial Support
Software Configuration
The CD-ROM files were developed to run on PC compatible machines
running under the Windows 95/98/2000 or Windows NT 4.0 (service pack 2 or later) operating
system. You must have the multimedia options installed. If your system does not run the
file when opened, confirm that the multimedia options are installed by opening the Control
Panel (under the Start menu - Settings) and choosing
Add/Remove Programs > Windows Setup > Multimedia.
Hardware Configuration
The recommended minimum hardware requirements are as follows:
Pentium 133 Mhz
4X CD-ROM drive
32 megabytes of RAM
800 x 600 video resolution with 16 bit color
Sound card
CD-ROM Player
You may need to make the following adjustments in order to improve
the performance of the CD-ROM player under Windows 95 and Windows 98. From the Start Menu
select the following options:
Settings > Control Panel > System >
Performance File System... > CD-ROM
then set the Supplemental cache size: to "maximum",
and the Optimize access pattern for: to "No read ahead".
In order to control the volume, you will have to manually adjust the
volume control on your speakers, or click on the speaker icon, usually located in the
lower right hand corner of the task bar. If you are using headphones, make sure to plug
them into the sound card and not the headphone jack located on the CD-ROM drive.
If the files still do not open or run properly you may need to
reinstall Windows' Multimedia options:
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Windows
Setup > Multimedia
